The Virtual Worlds Best Practices in Education Conference is a peer-reviewed, free conference open to attendees around the world.

The entire VWBPE 2017 conference will be held in Second Life®. The following is a guide to accessing the virtual environment.

New to Second Life? Entering for the First Time

Account Requirements

To create a Second Life account and download the software, go to https://urockcliffe.com/reg/second-life/, click to complete the captcha test and then the “Create Second Life Account” button. Follow the screen prompts for both account setup and software download.

Download Software

When creating your Second Life account for the first time, you will be prompted to download and install the official Second Life Viewer. The first time you log in, you will arrive at the Rockcliffe University Consortium orientation center, where you will learn the basics of navigating with your avatar in Second Life. Upon completing the orientation, you will be able to go to the conference via teleport.

Blind users have found Radegast useful. It can be downloaded here: http://radegast.org/wiki/Radegast_Download.

Voice Access

Voice is integrated into the viewers for Second Life.

Going to the VWBPE Conference

Main Gateway URL

The VWBPE Gateway is at http://maps.secondlife.com/secondlife/VWBPE%20Gateway/178/128/38.

From the Gateway, you will find teleport boards to take you throughout the VWBPE sims.
