Bronwyn Stuckey>We are pleased to announce Dr. Bronwyn Stuckey as a keynote speaker at the 2016 Virtual Worlds Best Practices in Education conference. Dr. Stuckey, Warrior Princess and independent consultant to Intel and Microsoft programs, will lead us in challenging our assumptions about work and virtual worlds.

Bronwyn Stuckey is a postdoctoral research fellow of the Arizona State University Center for Games & Impact. Her game-inspired designs are evident across various education environments, including classrooms, professional development, and communities of practice. Two of the most notable are Quest Atlantis and Massively Minecraft.

For more than ten years she has championed communities of practice, exploring ways to cultivate identity, agency, citizenship, leadership, and community for students and teachers. Through researching online communities of practice, she identified factors that contributed to their success. Most recently, she has examined the efficacy of open badges, and is a co-facilitator for Open Badges Australia. In this keynote, she will focus on the following:

  • What are the signals over the last year that have been blurring the real and virtual dichotomy?
  • How will we be able to challenge our assumptions about how we see the place of work in virtual worlds?
  • As educators, how should we imagine audacious goals beyond the horizon of new technologies?

Dr. Stuckey will help us launch a varied program with leading contributors in research and best practices to some of the most cutting edge technologies within virtual worlds. Join us this March 9-12 as we cast long and focused shadows on the not-so-distant horizon.
