Exhibit Grand Opening Ribbon Cutting Ceremony

Listen to music with Ari (Arisia Vita) as he streams soft and soothing piano music during the event. Ari says  that “Second Life gives me the chance to play for you and breathe life into my dreams.” A special thank you to Ari for donating this time to VWBPE. He says, “The only tips I need or accept are smiles.” While you listen to the music, be sure to grab some ice cream and stroll the exhibits to learn what educators are doing and accomplishing in virtual environments. Meet members of the VWBPE 2017 Executive and Planning Committees and watch the Ribbon Cutting Ceremony. Visit exhibits after the ribbon is cut and network with colleagues and friends.

The Queen’s Heroes in the Five Kingdoms

Host: Leticia De Leon (SL: Letty Luckstone), University of Texas Rio Grande Valley
Description: Participants in this immersive experience will engage in an allegorical experience that is both storytelling and game. This underwater paradise needs heroes that will save the five kingdoms from a man-made destruction. Guided by a HUD and a mentor, all heroes who heed the call will travel to the five underwater kingdoms to piece together the story and undergirding real life issues. Those who engage with this experience may do so in storytelling or game mode.
Participants will be the hero in an allegory that follows an underwater path to the five kingdoms.
Participants will evaluate environmental issues in a five-kingdom challenge to win the game.

Access: In order to access this experience, you must download and install the Second Life viewer and create a free account with Second Life. See the conference website for information about setting up an Second Life account. Once logged in, participants can teleport to this starting location in the VWBPE regions.

Kick Off and Ribbon Cutting

Join us at the Gateway for Kick Off Event of VWBPE 2019.  This is a time to socialize and network with friends, old and new, while enjoying the lovely piano music of Ari (Arisia Vita). The Conference Executive and Organization Committees will share a few of the upcoming highlights. Executive Director, Phelan Corrimal, will officially start the conference with the Ribbon Cutting Ceremony. You will also have time to explore and enjoy the exhibits.  Be sure to check for the Exhibit Scavenger Hunt Notecard in your Swag Bag. There will be a prize for completion!

Description: The Science Circle is a 10 year old alliance of scientists, educators, students, and science enthusiasts who collaborate to share knowledge and promote open source education worldwide. Our mission is to enhance science understanding through interdisciplinary dialog via virtual environments and social media. We continue to collaborate with educators and researchers to re:envision innovative ways to attract and engage a diverse people and ideas, while working to solve technological and user issues.
Objectives:
1. Participants will be able to see how Virtual Worlds can facilitate open-source STE(A)M education.
2. Participants will be able to consider the interplay between VWs and the toolbox of social media.
