Lightning Production’s Bob Dylan and The Band Tribute Concert.

The legacy of Bob Dylan is still being written. But, it is hard to argue that Dylan is not one of the most influential figures of the 20th century. This past year (October 2016) Dylan won the Nobel Prize for “redefining the boundaries of literature.”  We are delighted to present some of the best of Bob Dylan’s work in our opening “Lightning Production’s “Blowin’ In The Wind” Tribute Concert at the VWBPE Social Plaza. So, let your hair down and catch a bit of that musical energy as you dance to some of Dylan’s most popular songs, including “Blowin’ in the Wind”, The Times They Are a-Changin”, “Quinn the Eskimo” and “Forever Young”.
Dress: Casual – Tie-dyed ‘60’s fav (Tie-dyed T-shirts and more included in swag bag)

Good Morning, VWBPE!

Join us for early morning coffee, continental breakfast, and an early dip “Under The Sea.” This is your chance to enjoy a guided tour of the undersea gardens, explore the Mermaid houses, and complete the scavenger hunt. Or, if you prefer to be above the water, we have kayaking, jet skiing, hang gliding, and hiking up to see Poseidon at the top of Mt. Legacy.  You can catch-up with old friends, and make new friends while you get ready for day two. Get yourself organized and your questions answered about which sessions and activities you will want to attend. Members of the Social and Volunteer Committees will be here to help you make the most of your VWBPE17 conference experience.  Be sure to join us for plenty of fun and be sure to take lots of selfies and photos.

Dress: Morning casual (Mermaid and Merman suits and other sports equipment and attire available on sim)

Machinima with Gridjumper (tanya.smedley)

Comedy, drama, tutorials …entertainment and instruction brought to you via Machinima, the art of making movies in virtual and digital game environments.  Spend an hour watching some Legacy works with others who create such works and some who just like watching them and using them for instructional purposes.  Chat is encouraged in this movie attendance.  We’ll talk about methodology and potential for using machinima as a teaching, learning and assessment strategy.

VWBPE Legacy Party Barge Excursion

\We have ice cold beer and other assorted refreshing drinks for everyone. Grab your favorite drink and join the fun as we relax and tour the entire VWBPE conference on this unique floating barge. The Legacy Party Barge will make its way around the entire VWBPE Conference venue, stopping at different ports along the way so people can get off and on to explore different exhibits, attractions, and conference areas. If you have never been on a boat in sl this is one experience you will not want to miss!

Telima (Diamond Spiritor) Lunchtime Concert

Telima has always had a passion for singing. She began her SL career singing in a Karaoke lounge. The audience told her she should stream live, and in her words, “I have never looked back.”  She sings various songs from all eras and especially enjoys performing songs that have a special meaning to her. This is your chance to take a midday break and sit back while you enjoy listening to this talented musician.

Under The Sea, Under The Sea…

… “Darling it’s better, Down where it’s wetter, Take it from me. . .Under the sea!” Or, better yet, come explore it for yourself!  Bring your friends and snorkel.  Take the guided undersea tour, and/or be a mermaid/merman and swim around with us!  There are free outfits available under the sea.  Follow the trail and find prizes as you enjoy the beautiful plants and animals on the ocean floor. See the Octupus’s Garden and enjoy high tea in one of the Mermaid Houses. Best of all, “we got no troubles, life is the bubbles” so join us for fun, way down, Under the Sea!
Dress: Swim Casual (Mermaid/Merman attire, snorkel gear, etc. available on social sim)

The Ballet Pixelle First Performance of Phylogeny

Come join us for refreshments on the red carpet during our pre-show experience. You will have a chance to take photo ops and mingle with other guests before the immersive performance by The Ballet Pixelle. This ballet company was founded in 2006 by choreographer Inarra Saarinen. Their performance of Phylogeny will examine the reverse development of the species from humans to dragons.  There are a limited amount of free tickets available at the Social Plaza. If you do not get tickets for the first show, it will be repeated from 6-7 pm (slt) You are not going to want to miss this special performance by Ballet Pixelle!   http://balletpixelle.org

The ChangHigh Sisters Fireshow Circus

Everyone enjoys the circus, and the ChangHigh Sisters have created and designed a very unique and extremely powerful circus / fire-dancing show that is a MUST SEE! Watch them perform in rotating trapezes, on high wire, acrobats podiums and on rolling balls. Be amazed as they dance on walking elephants and do many very unique acrobatic animations, reality fire juggling, including, fire hula hoops, high tight wire walk, and a fire dance… all colored by effects of many different kinds. Witness the use of special effects such as fireballs, particles, smoke, and other kinds of realistically living light. The ChangHigh Sisters have discovered and perfected the use of many unique effects which they blend into a pyrotechnic fire work display. You will not want to miss this supreme circus acrobatic fire show with a mixture of highly spiritual music and cosmic speech blended with universal insight, wisdom and philosophy.

Dress: Please remove bling and scripts to be as low lag as possible.

KJJeff Kohn Pre-Closing Concert

Jeff Kohn has been performing in RL for over 22 years and has performed at a variety of SL venues. Jeff performs at weddings, concerts, parties and other special events. He has built his repertoire of over 2,000 songs and will be taking requests from the audience. Come listen to great music and mingle with your friends at the main auditorium right before the Closing Ceremony.

VWBPE Legacy 2017 Closing Ceremony

Come contemplate your experiences and learnings during this GREAT conference.  

The Beatles Tribute Concert in The Octopus’s Garden Palladium

Lightning Productions proudly presents a special tribute to The Beatles immediately following the closing ceremony in the Octopus’s Garden Palladium, Under The Sea. The legacy of The Beatles stands as one of the world’s most commercially successful bands. Enjoy the romance and frivolity that The Beatles brought to the musical stage with songs including “I Want to Hold Your Hand”, “Penny Lane”, “Eleanor Rigby” and “Yellow Submarine” while you swim and dance the night away.

Dance The Night Away with DJ Coz OKelly

This is your chance to share your favorite moments from VWBPE 2017, celebrate what you have learned, and hang with your old and new friends. WW1: A Virtual Remembrance

WW1: A Virtual Remembrance @ Second Life

Description: This experience will showcase key components of World War One in honor of the centenary of this epic event. Participants will go through a WW1 bunker and learn about life as a solider in the trenches, revisit the spirit of the UK’s Home Guard, and the affects of the aftermath of the war and how the punishments leveled to Germany contributed to WW2.

This presentation will introduce a new approach to teaching basic data science by using avatars as data points in data visualizations. The approach is intended to make this topics more approachable — particularly for those who may have math anxiety or limited prior quantitative background.

Participants will be able to conceptualize how virtual worlds can be used to teach basic data science concepts.
Participants will be able to access four data visualizations in Second Life to enhance their own understanding of basic data science or to help others do so.

Learning in 3D comes alive through the mind of eight-year-old Jack. Join us as we explore the creation of Jack’s World, a Jurassic simulation that runs on OpenSimulator at Virtual Harmony. Virtual Harmony is a participatory design, community, and classroom space, hosting a collection of games, simulations, contemplative spaces, and immersive experiences that span research, education, social good and values-based leadership.

Participants will discover student perspectives on the benefits and challenges of studying and holding classes across different virtual worlds.
Participants will explore the student projects, the technology challenges, and how the students took their ideas and modeled them in OpenSim, an open source virtual world.

Kick Off and Ribbon Cutting

Join us at the Gateway for Kick Off Event of VWBPE 2019.  This is a time to socialize and network with friends, old and new, while enjoying the lovely piano music of Ari (Arisia Vita). The Conference Executive and Organization Committees will share a few of the upcoming highlights. Executive Director, Phelan Corrimal, will officially start the conference with the Ribbon Cutting Ceremony. You will also have time to explore and enjoy the exhibits.  Be sure to check for the Exhibit Scavenger Hunt Notecard in your Swag Bag. There will be a prize for completion!

Making Connections Parade

Our parade will end in the main building on the social sim with a fun-filled concert and dancing with DJ Coz Okelly who will spinning the NEW Oldies music from the 80’s!  Many pop stars emerged in the 80’s including Madonna and Prince. You are sure to hear these superstars and more. So, whether you want to do the Macarena or the Moonwalk, there will be lots of fun for all!

Come early to get a good seat and get your Misfit Dance Cam HUD –  you wear a HUD button and “they” control what you see! Now you can just sit back and enjoy the show!

Under the Sea Adventure

Enjoy Blues, Folk, Big Band, Rock, Hip Hop, Disco, and more.
