Woolston-Steen Theological Seminary Virtual Ritual

Description: In this immersive experience, we’ll start by providing a short orientation and then allowing visitors to go through a variation of one of the healing/blessing rituals set up to be self-paced. Our students learn how to prepare such rituals in the virtual world so that they will then have the skills to perform them for their interfaith / pagan communities in the real world. Notecards with important landmarks on the school’s sim will be provided, should visitors wish to explore further.
To demonstrate how we integrate a variety of technologies to provide a multi-layered educational experience.
To engage participants in a virtual ritual demonstration, created by our students.

Access: See the conference website for information about creating a Second Life account. Either SL or Firestorm viewers are recommended. Skype will be used for an orientation to demonstrate the Moodle and Office 365 tools used by the school.
Accessibility: A written script will be available during the presentation.

Digital Citizens around a Community Drum

Description: As digital citizens, we each are journeying along a unique path with a personal story and perspective. Global digital participatory culture requires personal responsibilities for authenticity and ethics. Come learn about a storytelling community drum advocating digital citizenship. Share stories in a 3D learning environment.
Participants will witness various perspectives of digital citizenship through personal stories.
Participants will have an opportunity to voice their own digital citizenship stories.

Digital Citizenship Museum in Kitely

Description: Participants will first participate in an interactive presentation that describes Digital Citizenship and the goals of the sim. Each of several buildings houses either a multi-media presentation or interactive slide show for a topic within Digital Citizenship. The interactive materials in each building were created by a variety of educators across the metaverse, bringing a diverse set of perspectives and ideas which we will then discuss near the end of the allotted time.
Participants will be able to disseminate information on what it means to be digital citizen in Virtual Worlds.
Participants will be able to voice meaningful suggestions on improving digital citizenship education.
